- Written offer within 24 hours
- Drives wiped in house
- Lots of five items or more
Tell us what
you're selling.
Or email us directly at info@refreshsurplus.com. We read every kit list and reply to every one.
Machines, network kit
and the parts inside them.
Whole machines and loose parts, working or faulty, in any mix. Mark each line on the form and we price the lot as it is.
Laptops
Business laptops from Dell, HP, Lenovo, Apple, Microsoft and the other big makers. Working, faulty or not tested: say which on each line and we price it on that.
Desktops
Office desktops, small form factor PCs and workstations, with or without their drives fitted. Give us the spec if you know it.
Servers
Rack and tower servers from Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco, Supermicro and others. An asset list or spec sheet helps us price them.
Network kit
Switches, routers, firewalls and wireless access points from Cisco, Juniper, HPE Aruba, Ubiquiti, Fortinet and more.
Parts
Hard drives and SSDs, memory (RAM), graphics cards (GPUs) and processors (CPUs), loose or in bulk. Loose drives are wiped the same way as fitted ones.
What we don't take
Lots under five items, kit outside the UK, and leased or financed kit that is not yours to sell. Something else? Choose Other on the form and ask.
From your list
to its next owner.
Six steps, and only the first one is work for you. Here is what happens after you send the list, and where the kit goes once it leaves you.
Send us your kit list
Type, brand, model, quantity and condition, one line each. Attach an asset list if you have one. Mixed lots are fine.
Get a written offer
We aim to send it within 24 hours of your list landing. You can accept it or say no, and that is the end of it.
Payment terms in writing
Payment terms are agreed per deal and stated in the written offer. Some lots are paid before collection, others on or after it, and the offer says which.
Send it, or we collect
Send it to us by courier, or we collect. Within 150 miles of Cardiff we can come in our own van. Further away, we set up a courier.
Every drive wiped in house
We wipe every drive in house and send you a certificate listing each serial number. A drive that will not wipe is destroyed.
Resold or repaired
Working kit is checked and sold on to a new owner. Faulty kit is repaired where it can be, or taken apart for parts.
Three ways to
get it to us.
Send it to us by courier, or we collect. We pay for the courier or the collection. That cost is allowed for in our offer, so the figure in the offer is what you receive. Once it is with the courier or in our van, the risk is ours.
You send it by courier
Book your own courier and send the kit to us. We cover the cost, and the written offer confirms how that works for your lot.
Our van, within 150 miles of Cardiff
Within 150 miles of Cardiff we can come in our own van. We agree a date with you once you accept the offer.
A courier we arrange, further away
Further away, we set up a courier to collect from your site. Anywhere in the UK, and UK only.
Is selling it
the right call?
Selling is not the answer for every lot. Here is how it compares with recycling, trading in or leaving it in a cupboard, and where we are not the right buyer.
Where selling wins
- Money for kit that still works
- A recycling collection is built to get rid of kit. We are here to buy it, so working machines and parts earn you something.
- Money, not credit
- A trade-in usually comes as credit against new kit from one supplier. Our offer is a price for your kit, with nothing to buy.
- Space back, before it is worth less
- Kit in a store room loses value every year it sits there. Selling now clears the room while it still has a price.
- Drives wiped, with proof
- We wipe every drive in house and send you a certificate listing each serial number, so you can close the asset off your register.
Where it may not
- Faulty kit prices down
- A machine that does not work has to be repaired or taken apart before it sells again, and our offer reflects that.
- Old kit can be worth little
- Machines more than a few generations old may be worth very little. We will tell you that plainly rather than dress it up.
- Locked devices are worth far less
- A device still enrolled in MDM, with a BIOS password or with Activation Lock on cannot be reset and sold as working.
- Under five items is not for us
- We buy lots of five items or more. For one or two laptops, a trade-in or a local reseller is the better route.
The practical
questions.
Packing, distance, locked devices, data and payment. If yours is not here, ask it in the notes on the form.
How should I pack the kit?
Pack it as you would to ship it to a customer: laptops and loose drives padded so nothing moves, heavy servers on a pallet. If you are not sure about something, ask when you accept the offer and we will tell you what we need.
What if I am more than 150 miles from Cardiff?
We set up a courier to collect from you. We pay for it, and that cost is allowed for in our offer, so the figure in the offer is what you receive. We collect anywhere in the UK, and UK only.
Can you collect from more than one site?
Tell us each site in the notes on the form. The offer sets out how the kit moves from each one: our own van within 150 miles of Cardiff, a courier we arrange further away.
Do I need to remove MDM, BIOS passwords or Activation Lock?
Yes, please, before collection. A laptop still enrolled in your company's device management (MDM), with a BIOS password set or with Apple's Activation Lock on cannot be reset and sold as working, so it is worth far less. If you cannot remove them, say so on the form and we will price the lot with that in mind.
How do you price faulty kit?
Mark each line Working, Faulty or Not tested on the form. Faulty kit prices down, because it has to be repaired or taken apart before it can be sold again. Not tested is a fine answer if you do not know.
Do you buy fewer than five items?
No. We buy lots of five items or more. That is five items in total across the list, in any mix: three laptops and two switches count, and so do five sticks of RAM.
What happens to the data on the drives?
We wipe every drive in house and send you a certificate listing each serial number. A drive that will not wipe is destroyed. Loose drives sold as parts are wiped the same way as drives fitted in a machine.
How do I get paid?
Payment terms are agreed per deal and stated in the written offer. We pay to bank details confirmed in writing by the account holder, and we will not act on a change of bank details sent by email alone.
Do you take monitors, printers or phones?
Our main lines are laptops, desktops, servers, network kit and parts. For anything else, choose Other on the form and tell us what it is. We will tell you if it is not something we buy.
How long does the offer take?
We aim to send a written offer within 24 hours of your list landing. A big mixed lot can take longer, and if it will, we tell you rather than leave you waiting.
Got kit to clear?
Send us the list.
Five items or more, anywhere in the UK. We aim to send a written offer within 24 hours, and we pay to get the kit to us. That cost is in the price.
